vTrainingRoom Launches Cloud-Based LMS with Tin Can Integration

“With the enhanced features of ScholarLMS, which complement the core features of the traditional VLE, already in use by over 50 million users, we hope it will drive the industry to continue to develop Tin Can. We’re looking to reduce technology barriers to creating and managing traditional online learning, and provide an easy-to-use SaaS to track and store experiences that have previously been very difficult to record.”

vTrainingRoom is pleased to announce today, at The eLearning Guild’s DevLearn Conference & Expo 2012 in Las Vegas, NV, the release to the public of ScholarLMS. It is the first-of-its-kind Tin Can API-enabled learning management system, based on the world’s most popular open-source virtual learning environment (VLE).

This groundbreaking LMS offers new opportunities for instructional designers who are ready to take advantage of the Experience API (also known as Tin Can API).

Michael Roberts, managing partner at vTrainingRoom, commented, “online learning has significantly expanded. More and more often the one-person training department is challenged to keep up with systems and technology that have become more specialized and hard to handle solo. Open frameworks are bringing both opportunity and challenges to organizations that need to support various technologies. Users are also increasingly spread out, have limited connectivity, and frequently require on-demand training.”

TinCan has been called the next generation SCORM and ideally will help solve some of the challenges of mLearning and eLearning, pushing the industry forward. Early adopters have come to realize that a flexible platform that allows them to both push and pull content to stakeholders best enables learning organizations to deliver online training. Roberts noted, “with the enhanced features of ScholarLMS, which complement the core features of the traditional VLE, already in use by over 50 million users, we hope it will drive the industry to continue to develop Tin Can. We’re looking to reduce technology barriers to creating and managing traditional online learning, and provide an easy-to-use SaaS to track and store experiences that have previously been very difficult to record.”

Although the TinCan API itself is still evolving, vTrainingRoom has stated it is committed to integrating the technology in as many products this year as possible. And with the release today of ScholarLMS, vTrainingRoom has renewed its strong commitment to early adoption of this technology.
