SoftChalk Announces New Scoring Solution at DevLearn|10

“SoftChalk ScoreCenter, using the Basic LTI framework, will help ensure our users experience easy-to- implement and reliable scoring-tracking capabilities within SoftChalk lessons and eCourses,” said Susan Evans, co-founder and CEO of SoftChalk.

SoftChalk LLC, a rapid-content authoring tool, announces the development, in collaboration with the IMS Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) group, of SoftChalk ScoreCenter. This new scoring solution uses the IMS LTI and Basic outcomes framework that allows integration of remote tools and content into any LMS.

SoftChalk ScoreCenter will provide a scoring method that integrates with LMS grade books. For SoftChalk users, this solution will result in easier and more reliable integration between SoftChalk content and LMS grade books, including tracking detailed student scoring information. SoftChalk plans to launch ScoreCenter for Blackboard Learn later this year and they plan integration with other LMSs for 2011.

“We strive to provide reliable, standards compliant tools for our clients, and the development of SoftChalk ScoreCenter, using the Basic LTI framework, will help ensure our users experience easy-to-implement and reliable scoring-tracking capabilities within SoftChalk lessons and eCourses,” said Susan Evans, co-founder and CEO of SoftChalk.

"With the broad adoption of Common Cartridge and Basic Learning Tools Interoperability have come many requests for compliant content authoring systems," added Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive of IMS. "SoftChalk has taken the lead on providing content authoring, on assessments (based on IMS QTI), and now on results reporting. IMS congratulates SoftChalk on providing such strong leadership in a new world of open standards-based content for education."

SoftChalk is an IMS Alliance Member and innovative supporter of standards and interoperability. Currently SoftChalk supports IMS Common Cartridge v1.0 packaging.

Please stop by the SoftChalk booth (109) at DevLearn 2010, November 3 – 4, to learn more about this new feature.
