Thanks for this. The rising tide lifts all boats. You show real understanding that Social Learning is not frilly but rather needs to be populated by highly motivated members interested in advancing their careers, making more money, saving their life or another person's life and so forth...

You key in on "examples of fundamental human needs, and the key to creating a compelling social learning solution is to appeal to such needs" and I couldn't agree more.

Linkage to Maslow's hierachy is a great way to move toward answer to persistent question of "how do we get people to participate?"
