Career Development: Interview with Tom Kuhlmann, Part 1

“I do tell people today, go out, find out what [businesses] are looking for, and go get the experiences, build a portfolio, and be able to show and demonstrate that you’re able to do things, rather than just write about them.”

At DevLearn 2010, Tom Kuhlmann shared his perspective with me on careers in e-Learning. The interview is divided into two parts. In Part 1, Tom reflects on how he started in e-Learning, and then offers advice to people wanting to shift or grow their careers. Watch this interview to learn Tom’s take on:

  • The evolving field of e-Learning

  • How to create a skill map

  • How to get resume-building experience

Part 2 of this interview will appear in my column here next month.
