MaryAnn Kolloff, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at Eastern Kentucky University.
Dr. Kolloff is active in presenting workshops focusing on distance education for university faculty and in-service teachers at national and state conferences. She teaches technology courses, as well as adolescent and young adult literature courses in online learning environments. She has successfully published in many different academic journals, and has presented at national conferences including Sloan C, E-Learn World Conference, Wisconsin Distance Education Conference, AECT, and the Lily Conferences.

Teacher Presence: Using Introductory Videos in Online and Hybrid Courses

Whatever helps learners connect with the content and each other is paramount, and the main way this happens in many courses is through an instructor. This article brings research to support this observation, and suggests that an introductory video could be essential to helping learners and their online instructor connect.
