Following the arrival of xAPI into the mainstream at The eLearning Guild’s DevLearn 2016 Conference & Expo, HT2 Labs is sharing insights into how organizations can use learning analytics to better understand performance at Learning Solutions 2017 Conference & Expo later this month.

Ahead of the highly anticipated release of their new book, Investigating Performance: Design and Outcomes with xAPI, HT2 Labs data scientist Janet Laane-Effron will co-host the pre-conference xAPI Camp alongside Sean Putman for a day filled with xAPI case studies, problem solving, and networking.

Learning analytics and xAPI are fast becoming a key area of interest for organizations looking to better understand performance, as Laane-Effron explains: “xAPI’s potential is already being realized by early adopters creating benefits not just for L&D but for their organizations. Sean [Putman] and I have seen businesses use xAPI data to build real understanding of course impacts on performance, as well as to inform high-value improvements in course design.

“It’s been exciting to see the growth of knowledge in the xAPI community. It used to be that people came to xAPI Camp to learn what xAPI is; now we have early adopters coming back to share what they’ve learned and what they’ve achieved. We’re moving from ‘what is xAPI?’ to ‘how to use xAPI.’”

Continuing the data theme, on day one of Learning Solutions 2017, Laane-Effron and Putman will also deliver a morning session as part of the Data and Measurement Track at 10:45a on Wednesday, March 22. “Investigating Performance Using Data” (Session LS105) will take attendees on a deep dive into how data should shape learning system design, including exploring the basic principles of how to use data effectively and how to design to provide meaningful feedback, and looking at outside inspiration from fields that are already doing this well: user experience design (UXD), web analytics, and business intelligence.

Nearby in the Learning Solutions Expo, HT2 Labs will also be exhibiting at Booth 103—giving delegates an opportunity to get hands-on with the latest version of the Curatr social learning platform and the Learning Locker enterprise learning record store.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to pick up a hard copy of HT2’s latest white paper, The Learning Technology Manager’s Guide to xAPI, and to lock in discounted Learning Locker Starter Pack pricing.

Learning Solutions 2017, co-located with Learning & Performance Ecosystem, takes place March 22 – 24 at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista. Further details around HT2’s show activities can be found at HT2Labs.com/LSCon.
