Consolidation of e-Learning providers continued last week with the announcement that Taleo Corporation (http://www.taleo.com) will acquire Learn.com, Inc. (http://www.learn.com/). The companies expect the acquisition to be completed prior to the end of the fourth quarter of 2010.
Taleo offers a cloud-based talent management platform, used by its over 4,700 customers for talent acquisition, performance management, and compensation management. It also supports the Talent Grid cloud community, a set of three online communities that provides users an exclusive place to interact and share best practices, discover pre-integrated partner solutions, and connect with millions of candidates in an open marketplace.
Learn.com offers Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) learning management, social learning, and collaboration. Products provided by the company include content, a Learning Management System (LMS), and tools for content development and for assessment. Other features within the Learn.com platform include social networking, Web conferencing, and a Learning Content Management System (LCMS). Learn.com claims about two million users worldwide.
The acquisition rounds out Taleo’s ability to provide solutions across all four critical components of talent-optimized organization: recruiting management, performance management, compensation management, and (with the addition of Learn.com) management of both social and formal learning and development.
