The eLearning Guild and LINGOs, co-sponsors of the second annual eLearning Global Giveback competition, have announced the ten finalists in two competition categories: Individual or Team of Developers, and Corporate Developer.
Instructional designers, e-Learning Developers, and other e-Learning experts came together in the Global Giveback to make a real difference in the world by volunteering their expertise in developing state-of-the-art e-Learning to help build the capacity of LINGOs member organizations, such as ACCION, ACDI/VOCA, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Relief Services, Save the Children, and The Nature Conservancy.
The eLearning Guild and LINGOs are enormously grateful to the many e-Learning community members who volunteered their time, energy and enthusiasm to help change the world by registering to participate in this second eLearning Global Giveback. They are helping LINGOs member agencies to build their global capacity through eLearning Global Giveback and provide learning where it really makes a difference.

Final stages of the competition are underway
Final stages of the eLearning Global Giveback Competition are underway. These finalist courses are now with a panel of judges, and we will announce the winners on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at The eLearning Guild’s Learning Solutions Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida. Conference participants will have an opportunity to preview the courses and to meet with the developers and representatives of the agencies for whom the courses were developed, at a reception on March 24 following the announcement of winners.
About the eLearning Global Giveback Competition
The eLearning Guild and LINGOs created the eLearning Global Giveback Competition to provide the e-Learning community with an opportunity to help change the world. International non-profits that do great work in relief, development, conservation, and social justice use e-Learning to build the capacity of their global staff on the frontlines in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union. Designers and developers who enter the competition each year, and who complete creation of courses for a LINGOs member organization within the timeframe set for the competition, receive $200 off the cost of registration for the Learning Solutions Conference that year.
Win or not, participating in the eLearning Global Giveback is a great experience. For LINGOs member agencies, the e-Learning community has contributed a huge win and windfall by developing customized, high-quality learning resources for their staff in the far reaches of the world. Field-based staff members rarely have the opportunity to access state-of-the-art learning resources, given the costs of time and travel to regional and international training courses. The contribution made by volunteers means that these agencies can both invest in their staff’s development and use the precious financial resources contributed by generous donors to achieve their organizational missions. These missions include responding to crises, such as last year’s devastating earthquake in Haiti, building democratic institutions, fighting corruption, protecting natural resources, and promoting health and human rights around the globe.
About LINGOs
LINGOs is a consortium of over 55 international humanitarian relief, development, conservation and social justice organizations that share learning resources and experiences. By providing the latest learning technologies and courses from our partners, LINGOs helps these non-profits to increase the skill levels of their employees, and therefore increase the impact of their programs.
Created in 2005 as a means for organizations to share learning resources, LINGOs is continuously expanding as more organizations become aware of the value of membership. LINGOs has served as a central contact point for private sector organizations interested in assisting the sector but who want to see their contributions of software, courseware, systems and services leveraged across many organizations.
LINGOs operates a Learning Management System (LMS) that contains hundreds of courses on Leadership and Management Development, Information Technology, Project Management, Stress Management for Humanitarian Workers, Personal Safety and other topics. LINGOs Member Agencies can access the content through custom-branded portals or through a shared portal depending on their level of membership.
Finally, through the generous support of partner organizations, LINGOs makes available a wide range of tools for developing, distributing and implementing learning strategies.
About The eLearning Guild
The eLearning Guild is the oldest and most trusted source of information, networking, and community for e-Learning Professionals. As a member-driven organization, the Guild produces conferences, online events, e-books, research reports, and Learning Solutions Magazine — all devoted to the idea that the people who know the most about making e-Learning successful are the people who produce e-Learning every day in corporate, government, and academic settings. Guild membership is all about members sharing with, and learning from, other members. That's why we call it a Community of Practice. Our goal is to create a place where e-Learning professionals can share their knowledge, expertise, and ideas to build a better industry—and better learning experiences — for everyone.
